Uni

Hi

Iv not been on here no since August and not sure how often I will come on here now. I am at University now studying film, radio and TV at Christ Church Canterbury.  I am loving it all and have had a great term and looking forward to the next 3 years. So much has been going on that I couldnt possibly write about it all!

So the blog has sort of come to an end really but if I become famous I will just copy everything and put it in a book to save me having to write it all again!

Updates

Sorry, I feel like I have neglected this blog. I think the last time I wrote it was about my prom adventure!
Well since then this summer has been jam packed.
I have been camping with my dad, been to alton towers visited the cinema several time (inception, karate kid toy story 3) I have also done a week of filming workshops also some bowling and lazier quest. So a lot of stuff!
I haven’t been able to write because of all of this stuff! Oh and I got a new phone I’m now a blackberry boy.
And now this evening the reason I have found the time the reason is because I have my Alevel results tomorrow and writing in this blog is just distracting myself for ten minutes or so! I am just trying to take deep breaths and stay calm……………

Its been a while!

Sorry, forgot I had a website for a moment!

I have been on holiday! 2 blissful weeks in HOT Bulgaria. Had a really nice time out there, got a nice tan ate and drank a lot. Spent some time in the pool and at the water park. It was all very nice, until we got to the airport coming home.

14hr flight delay! DUN DUN DUN!

And the reason it was such a problem was because in 16hrs my prom was starting. Yep a whole year of my hard work getting this prom sorted and a great big excuse to party with my friends before we part in september was going to happen without me, while Im stuck in another country. Gutted.

To cut a long story short. Got on the plane, landed in Heathrow at 6:30 (Prom starts a 7 and its about a 2-3hr drive from the airport) The lovely stewardess’ let me  off the plane first and I RAN through passport control. Leaving my parents to collect my luggage while I got in a car with a friend of theirs who was waiting for me. And well… lets just say I arrived at the prom at 8:10. Changed into my suit in the toilets and walked into the prom just at the end of the main course of food to a big cheer! (To put it into perspective my parents arrived home at 10:30!)

I had an awesome night it was just amazing. There are lots of pics over on facebook. Basically it was just the perfect way to end 6th form.

Been doing a lot this week with my dad, Go Ape, Alton Towers cinema etc and off camping on Monday….

Its  easier to follow me on twitter @rbartrop for more upto date updates!

BBC Blast

So I have been so ridiculously busy lately that I have not had any time to write. But now I have a few moments free to type up whats been occuring!

So BBC Blast were at Bury on wed, thus and fri last week and it was really good 3 days. The setup was really impressive with a big van of workshop space, the discovery truck and a big outside marque.

Wednesday the weather was great and there were a lot of great things going on. Film making, radio, fashion and graffiti. My job as a wex with the other guys was to register everyone and organise all the people attending the workshops. We also had to flick between workshops to make sure everything was running well. In the afternoon I went along to a workshops and we made an interview that was going to go out on Radio Suffolk the next day!

Thursday I went out in the morning to accompany the film group who were out on location. Then back to the front desk in the afternoon. I also was a camera man for the Q&A session, this was hard work as the camera gets heavy to hold still after a while!

Friday was the final day and I was the compare for the showcase! It was a really nice end to the event and the showcase went well with 3 really good live acts. After saying goodbye to the crew and seeing them pack up for the next leg of the tour al us WEX guys went out for a drink.

The Blast work experience was really enjoyable. Hard work but rewarding, i got to meet a load of new people and have an insight into some new creative areas.

Im going to try and get some photos from them

I deactivated facebook!

Sooooooo I have taken a wise decision to deactivate my facebook account. I thicken facebook is good but I noticed I spent a lot of time just refreshing and stalking people! This was wasting valuable revision time. So I have decided that at least until I finish my exams I will not go onto Facebook.

My work expierence with BBC blast has been great. We have had The promotional (bat van) going round some loacal schools offering taster sessions before the main event next week. It has been really fun getting to show Young people how to make ringtones, morphing and radio links has been great.
After we finished that I had to go over to Ipswich to be on BBC radio Suffolks introducing show! A very last minute thing but I got to be on the radio again!
I am soo exhausted off to bed soon!

Sigh of relief

I have just got back from the first of my a level business exams, which I have been stressing about for the last few days. Thankfully that is over and I can take the weekend off before back on to the revision.
So over the last two days I have been doing work experience with BBC Blast who will be in Bury on the 23-25june www.bbc.co.uk/blast/events to book ;)
It has been really good so far just doing some training and getting organized for the main event. We have all been given a set of green t-shirts to wear that say event team. It’s rather cool to be associated with the BBC even if the colour of the tops are not that great!
Next week is rather busy with blast and revision so don’t expect many posts but I will try to keep you updated.
Have a good weekend and enjoy the footy!

iPad!

Soooo….sorry for not posting anything recently but I have been a little bit distracted by MY iPAD!
It arrived last Friday and it is a thing of beauty. I am typing this on it right now. So what makes the iPad so good? Well the interface is soo simple to use, apple are masters of the touch screen so there arena problems here. The Internet browsing is amazing, the Internet was meant to viewed like this. I don’t really notice no flash, only a few website videos are flash but that’s not been an issue for me.
Some of the apps are great to. I love my sound effects and samples so have a couple of sound boxes which play sfx at the touch of a button and have been so funny to play with. It’s great to be able to play 2 player games like air hockey as well.
There are some other apps like drawing which are also very fun.
Obviously every product has room for improvements and I think they will come soon mainly multi tasking.
I don’t think it needs a camera.

The iPad is a beaut and if you have a few spare peenies then I recommend it (also get a case, I haven’t got one yet and am scared to take it out the house but I shall be getting one soon.)

Other than getting my iPad and being in love with it, I finished school on Friday and we had a really great celebration day which was on the whole run by me!
Also starting on wednesday I will be doing work experience with BBC Blast. I will be keeping you up to date on how that goes too!
